Pride Health is hiring a Laboratory Assistant to support our client’s Lab Support Services department in Detroit, MI.
This is a 13-week contract opportunity and the chance to work in a respected hospital environment with overnight shifts.
Job Summary: The Laboratory Assistant will perform routine lab support functions including specimen pick-up, processing, order entry, and transport.
This role may also occasionally involve phlebotomy.
You’ll play a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate laboratory operations while maintaining a strong focus on patient service and sample integrity.
Key Responsibilities:Prepare and process patient specimens for testingEnter test orders and patient data into lab information systemsInteract courteously with patients and staff; resolve basic inquiriesReview lab forms for accuracy and resolve discrepanciesMay assist in CLIA waived testing after training and competency approvalAssist with specimen transport, clerical duties, and equipment operationsMay occasionally collect blood samples after competency sign-offInstruct patients and caregivers on proper specimen collection techniquesComply with safety, infection control, and hospital protocolsSupport training and continuing education efforts in the department Qualifications: Education & Experience:High school diploma or GED requiredPrior lab or hospital experience preferredPhlebotomy experience/training required if performing blood drawsFamiliarity with medical terminology preferred Skills:Computer savvy; able to perform accurate data entryStrong customer service and communication skillsFlexible, team-oriented, and eager to learnMust be able to stand/walk for prolonged periods Additional Information:Location: Detroit, MI 48202Schedule: Monday–Friday 9:30 PM – 6:00 AM 40 hours/weekContract Length: 13 weeksPay Rate: $16 - $18/hour *Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
