This position will follow our hybrid work model; we expect the selected candidate to work 5 days a month at our Saint Petersburg, FL, corporate office.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion for meticulously safeguarding the written word and a key eye for detail. As an associate editor, this role will join our creative services team, working under moderate supervision. Your primary responsibility will be proofreading marketing materials to ensure the accuracy, clarity and quality of written content. This includes checking for grammatical, spelling, punctuation and typographical errors, as well as ensuring consistency in tone, style and formatting.
In addition to proofreading, this role will provide direction on design and brand elements in accordance with the corporate style guide. The associate editor reviews copy in the context of the creative brief or job specifications and provides feedback with respect to the overall theme and intent of the content. This position involves regular communication with internal team members to obtain or clarify facts and information, and advocates for stronger copy when needed. The associate editor will make decisions with guidance from an account executive, creative director, manager and other team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Proofread, and/or copyedit marketing materials for continuity, grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation, typographical errors, accuracy and adherence to corporate style and brand.
Exceptional attention to detail and solid grasp of grammar.
Verify the accuracy of all referenced facts and double-check cross-referenced materials
Ability to make recommendations and offer rationales for suggested changes to content.
Stays current on trends in business writing (from general mechanics to industry jargon) via AP stylebook and financial/industry sources.
Consults with department management team on brand/style guide and ensure adherence of style and tone in materials created for financial advisors and internal departments.
Ability to quickly determine priorities in a self-directed work environment so that both creative and operational responsibilities and deadlines are met.
Takes ultimate accountability to ensure final marketing materials are100% error-free, consistent and accurate.
Manages deadlines through communication.
Evaluate and recommend changes to create efficiencies.

Knowledge of
Fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of copyediting
AP Style and Chicago Manual of Style standards
Familiarity with financial industry terminology and compliance issues is a plus
Financial industry-specific style issues relating to content nice to have

Self-directed fact-checking (versus creative writing), including checking the accuracy of percentages and other calculations used in materials
