Sr. Staff Accountant

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our team in Reston, Virginia. This is a Contract-to-permanent position, offering the opportunity for long-term growth in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The role requires expertise in government contracting and strong financial management skills to support critical accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Prepare and review detailed financial reports, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

• Approve vendor payments, record transactions, and reconcile accounts to maintain financial accuracy.

• Record bank debits and monitor cash flow to support short-term cash projections.

• Process and record employee expense reports and project setups efficiently.

• Monitor contract and project funding to ensure compliance with ceiling limits and financial agreements.

• Collaborate with internal teams to improve financial processes and maintain operational efficiency.

• Utilize accounting software and tools, such as Unanet, to streamline workflows and reporting processes.

• Support audits and provide documentation as required for compliance and transparency.

• Ensure adherence to government contracting requirements and regulations.• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on government contracting.

• Proficiency in financial processes such as bank reconciliations, general ledger management, and journal entries.

• Demonstrated ability to manage month-end and year-end closings independently.

• Strong skills in preparing detailed financial reports and handling expense reports.

• Experience monitoring project funding and contract ceiling limits.

• Familiarity with accounting software, such as Unanet, is preferred but not required.

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
