We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Health Information Specialist to join our Health Information Management team. The Health Information Specialist will be responsible for assisting with the completion of medical records. Successfully manage the Rehab Insurance Verification process. Demonstrates specialized technical skills and performs other clerical services as assigned. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health.
Competencies:
Assists with completion process: Assembly, Evaluation, Tracking, Filing, Printing, Document Imaging, through destruction of D/C charts.
Responsible for abstracting the daily census.
Validates and analyzes data for patient-related information system needs or departmental operations or services.
Gathers data to support patient-related information system needs and departmental operations and services.
Participates in maintaining a medical record system which assures complete, accurate, confidential records on all patients admitted.
Runs all reports which require computerized data base.
Provides quick retrieval of medical and statistical information as needed.
Accepts committee assignment, project assignment research studies, or other mechanisms as deemed necessary.
Assist with coverage for MH chart completion as needed and during staff absence.
Assists with data entry in systems including but not limited to Sigma Care, HCS, Microsoft applications (such as Word/Excel).
Files loose papers.
Assists with managing onsite medical records storage system including prepping charts to go off-site maintaining tracking archival listings.
Performs other clerical work as needed.
Schedule: Full-time, 8am-4pm, Monday - Friday.
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.
Qualifications:
A minimum of two years work experience in a Health Care setting.
Experience in a HIM department or medical office preferred.
Ability to keep information confidential.
Ability to organize/prioritize workload.
Ability to be a self-starter.
Orientation to accuracy and detail.
Excellent computer skills, particularly with databases and information services.
Ability to conduct self professionally with people on phone or in person.
Must possess good interpersonal communication and problem solving skills. Highly developed written and verbal skills.
