Job Summary
Plans, coordinates and directs the Resident Activity Program. Plans, coordinates and directs the Adult Day Care Program. Recruits, orients and supervises the volunteer program of the facility. Provides necessary documentation to meet federal and state regulations. Recruits, orients and supervises activity and adult day care assistants.
Qualifications
Must be A Registered Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
A Certified Occupational Therapist or A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
If none of the above employee must has completed a training course approved by the State or have two (2) years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five (5) years
One of which was full.time in a patient activities program in a health care setting.
Duties and Responsibilities
Organize a program of both individual and group activities based on the needs of the residents. A balance of recreational activities including physical, social, religious, arts and crafts, divisional and intellectual is preferred.
Supervises beauty shop and barber activities. Technicians must be Licensed Hairdressers / Barbers with current Kentucky License.
Responsible for identifying and documenting activity interests, needs and problems of the residents in the residents care plan. Subsequent care plan updating will be documented ever nightly (90) days or as condition changes.
Is an active participant of the care plan committee and attends all care plan conferences with the other members of the conference team.
Will assist in community planning related to the interest of the facility and arrange for use of community facilities and nursing facility common areas when needed. Will work with volunteers in fund raising events, special activities, etc. Will promote family /resident involvement whenever possible. Will involve church groups, youth groups and community members in functions as possible.
Will market the facility and participates in state / local public relations activities relative to position.\
Attends Quality Improvement meeting.
Attends Restraint Reduction Committee and Fall Risk Committee meetings.
Coordinates and monitors Family Council Meeting at least quarterly.
Assesses new admissions to the facility and completes activities portion of Minimum Data Set (MDS) after completion of the seven day assessment reference period.
Coordinates and distributes a monthly newsletter.
Attends on-going inservice education seminars as needed to maintain certification and to improve job related skills.
Will be expected to participate in any pet therapy projects as attempted at the facility.
Will strive towards promoting an atmosphere of enthusiasm and motivation in the facility.
Will perform other related duties as may be directed by the Administrator.
Attend Safety Committee Meetings quarterly.
