Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Solar Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing efficient, code-compliant solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential projects. This role involves close collaboration with sales, engineering, and project management teams to ensure accurate system designs that align with consumer requirements, site conditions, and AHJ regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Create solar PV system designs using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Helioscope, PVsyst, or other industry-standard software.

Perform site assessments remotely to evaluate solar viability, shading, roof orientation, and structural integrity.

Develop detailed system layouts including module placement, electrical schematics, string sizing, and conduit runs.

Ensure designs meet all applicable codes (NEC, local building/electrical codes) and utility requirements.

Work closely with project engineers and sales teams to optimize system designs and costs.

Prepare permit plan sets and technical documentation for AHJs and utilities.

Support ongoing project revisions and change orders as needed throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

Minimum 2 years of experience in solar PV system design.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar software.

Strong understanding of solar energy systems, electrical codes (especially NEC), and utility interconnection requirements.

NABCEP certification (preferred but not required).

Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.

Bachelor's degree in renewable energy, engineering, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.
