Job Summary:
The NOC Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Network Operations Center to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of IT infrastructure and network systems. This role involves managing a team of NOC engineers and technicians, monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing best practices for operational efficiency. The NOC Manager will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive improvements and meet organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Management:
Recruit, train, and supervise a team of NOC engineers and technicians.
Develop work schedules, ensure appropriate staffing levels, and provide performance evaluations.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Network Monitoring and Incident Management:
Oversee 24/7 monitoring of network and IT infrastructure using tools and dashboards.
Ensure timely identification, escalation, and resolution of network issues and incidents.
Develop and enforce incident management processes, including root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
Operational Efficiency:
Define and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for NOC activities.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
Continuously evaluate and improve network monitoring tools and processes.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Act as the primary point of contact for escalations and critical incidents.
• •Collaborate with engineering, IT, and third-party vendors to resolve complex issues.
• Provide regular updates and reporting to senior leadership on NOC operations and performance.
Strategic Planning and Development:
Contribute to strategic planning for network capacity, scalability, and infrastructure improvements.
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
Develop budgets and resource plans for the NOC.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in network operations, IT infrastructure, or a related field, including 2+ years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of network protocols, systems monitoring, and troubleshooting tools.
Experience with incident management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and service desk platforms.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, ITIL, or similar.
Experience with cloud technologies, virtualization, or hybrid infrastructure.
• Familiarity with automation tools and scripting for network operations
• Familiarity with ScienceLogic’s event management tool
Work Environment:
• On-site or hybrid work arrangement, with availability for after-hours support during critical incidents.
• Fast-paced, team-oriented environment requiring strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
