The Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time Teaching Assistant Professor for a three-year period, with a review at the end of the first year. The course load is 3-3, and the position is outside the tenure track. Note that this year, classes begin on August 25, 2025. Salary and benefits are competitive.
Required Qualifications:
1). In addition to the ability to teach Introductory courses in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies and Indigenous Feminism, the successful candidate will be able to teach courses in Sociology, with a special emphasis on Sociology of Gender and Islam
2). A PhD in Sociology, Political Sociology, Middle Eastern Studies
3). Will be able to help develop programming and courses related the creation of a Certificate in Muslim Societies and Cultures
Preferred Qualifications:
1). Previous teaching experience at a public research university in the areas listed above
2). Ability to support curricular and programmatic needs in History, Religious Studies and Islamic Studies
3). Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary program with students from a range of backgrounds.
