Job Description
The scale house operator is responsible for helping to maintain the day-to-day operation and administrative duties associated with operation of the scale. This position requires a detail-oriented person able to maintain focus in a fast-paced processing plant. This position reports to the Business Operations Manager.
Work hours are Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
May need to work from 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on occasion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate scale house computers to obtain weight information for incoming recycle haulers and outbound shipments.
Compare scale tickets and bills of lading to verify accuracy of shipment contents and weights
Operates traffic control devices to allow vehicles to proceed to tipping area and exit from facility
Issues receipts to vehicle driver and collects tickets
Maintain accurate overall record keeping for reporting and analysis
Use of radio communications with worksite operators
Communicating with haulers and truck drivers
Communicating with Supervisors and Peers, providing information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, written form, and email and in person.
Performing day to day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
Maintain, monitor, and clean work areas, counters, windows and area around scale office
Follows company safety policies and procedures to prevent injuries and accidents
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Use computers to enter data and process information
Detail oriented in obtaining, documenting and recording information from all relevant sources
Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment
Ability to work well in a noisy environment
Organized and punctual
A positive attitude is essential
Interact with truck drivers, haulers, vendors, customers in a friendly and professional manner

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
HS diploma or equivalent
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Able to function under minimal supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Regularly use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms
Frequently required to sit, walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, speak and hear.
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
