Looking for real-world job experience? The Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH) seeks a talented and motivated student to help the Lead Conference Planner with events and conferences. The Lead Conference Planner works in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) and the OH-TECH communications team and supports the outreach needs of both ODHE and OH-TECH. The Events & Conferences Student Assistant’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Managing and creating event registrations, reporting sites, and attendee management in EventsAIR, the software used by ODHE/OH-TECH including communicating with attendees, and addressing their inquiries promptly (20%)

Providing help with event setup, teardown, and staffing (when not conflicting with class schedule) for ODHE/OH-TECH events, with a particular focus on the Ohio State Fair, COSI Big Science Celebration, and the Ohio Educational Technology Conference (20%)

Maintaining spreadsheets for each event and its ongoing event plan (20%)

Assist with venue selection, booking, and logistics, including coordinating with vendors, caterers, and other service providers (10%)

Will research and maintain lists of Columbus area venues and caterers (10%)

Work on special projects as needed (10%)

Will help manage the Lead Conference Planner’s calendar and schedule meetings (10%)

This position offers employment for the summer of 2025 with the possibility of continuing into fall and beyond.

About the Ohio Technology Consortium

Located on the West Campus of The Ohio State University, the Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH) is a division of the Ohio Department of Higher Education that consists of three statewide technology infrastructure organizations: the Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet), the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), and the Ohio Library and Information Network (OhioLINK).

The OH-TECH communications team includes a creative manager, two content creators and a web developer. The Events & Conferences Student Assistant will be expected to interact professionally with members of this team and other individuals throughout both organizations.

Education/Experience Required

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, the ability to deliver on deadline, and a willingness to learn and grow in your craft. Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills are highly valued in this role.

Education/Experience Desired

Students with coursework in the following fields would be preferred: hospitality management, public relations, marketing, event management, business management, and program management. Customer service experience preferred.

This position offers employment for the summer of 2025 with the possibility of continuing into fall and beyond.

Work schedule: Flexible during business hours 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday-Friday

Position is hybrid, with scheduled hours onsite, or at events, and remote (location is on West Campus – 1224 Kinnear Road)
