Teaching Assistant, Art - Academy, Grades

Punahou School is currently seeking a Teaching Assistant for the Glass Shop. Under the direction of the lead teacher, the Teaching Assistant provides support with the educational goals and implementation of the Department’s values and aims which promote purposeful exploration towards the creation of visual expressions. This position will facilitate the daily and annual routines of the program while establishing a safe and congenial environment.

Position Details:

Work Year: 9 Months

School Year: 2024 - 2025

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, Hours between 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Schedule may vary based on operational needs

Hourly Rate: $18.00/Hour

Minimum Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Fine Arts or related program. Completion of a Bachelor of Fine Arts or related degree preferred.

Experience in hot forming and cold working techniques in a glass shop.

Experience operating equipment in a hot shop and cold shop (furnace, annealer, gloryhole, lap wheel, belt sanders, etc.).

Experience with teaching high school students preferred.

Ability to inspire trust and confidence, exercise patience, and motivate students.

Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others.

Demonstrates solid professional and personal ethics: models respect, honesty, dependability, and integrity.

Demonstrated passion for art, teaching and learning.
