Job Summary

The Principal serves as the instructional leader of the high school. This involves providing a positive direction for school stakeholders; ensuring growth of students and teachers; creating and overseeing a safe and secure environment for all students, teachers, and staff; resolving issues that arise during the day-to-day functions of a high school; and establishing a community of respect and a commitment to excellence.

School Operations

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school building throughout the year.

Direct and coordinate activities of teachers, administrators, and support staff.

Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate primary and supplemental staff.

Plan, coordinate, and oversee school logistics, such as food services.

Enforce discipline and attendance rules. 20%

Relationship Management

Interact with students concerning academics, activities, attendance, and behavior to ensure student growth, safety, and achievement.

Counsel and provide guidance to students regarding personal, academic, vocational, or behavioral issues.

Interact with school staff to ensure positive working environment and employee experience.

Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and student behavior or learning problems.

Develop partnerships with community members, businesses, and other organizations to help support students and the district.

Mentor and support administrative staff members. 15%

School Finances

Manage the school's financial resources and various budgets, including but not limited to the activity budget, site budget, and any applicable bond funds.

Prepare and submit budget requests and recommendations or grant proposals to solicit program funding.

Determine allocations of funds for staff, supplies, materials, and equipment, and authorize purchases. 15%

School Activities

Provide leadership for various school activities and events.

Review and approve new programs, or recommend modifications to existing programs, and submit program proposals for school board approval as necessary. 15%

Facilities Monitoring

Provide ongoing monitoring of facilities to identify repairs and improvements that need to be made.

Ensure execution of necessary repairs and improvements.

Direct and coordinate school maintenance services and the use of school facilities. 10%

Instructional Leadership

Participate in developing teaching and learning strategies to best support the established curriculum.

Collaborate with teachers to develop and maintain curriculum standards, develop mission statements, and set performance goals and objectives.

Observe teaching methods and examine learning materials to evaluate and standardize curricula and teaching techniques and determine areas for improvement.

Set educational standards and goals, and help establish policies and procedures to carry them out. 5%

Construction

Oversee short-term and long-term planning for new construction and planned renovations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Education: Master's or Professional Degree (M.Ed., M.A.T, M.B.A, M.S.N., M.D., J.D., etc.)

Masters in Educational Administration (M.Ed.) or a related field.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Teaching License, Administrator License

Previous Experience:

4-6 years work-related experience (teaching or administrator) is required
