Job Summary

ETSU's Addiction Science Center is seeking a Research Program Manager to help lead and grow our innovative addiction and recovery research portfolio. The Program Manager will play a vital role in supporting research teams by ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in full alignment with contracts and community partnerships. This position is ideal for a candidate with strong program management skills, a deep understanding of research practices and federal funding requirements, and a personal or professional connection to substance use disorder. By leveraging both content knowledge and lived experience, the Program Manager will help expand the Center's impact across the region and beyond.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of and experience in the research environment in higher education.

Knowledge and lived experience of substance use disorder, evidence-based practices, and recovery support research.

Knowledge of university policies and procedures and grant policies and procedures.

Ability to make independent decisions and take the appropriate action in situations requiring a quick decision.

Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Knowledge of various funding agencies, including federal and state programs and private foundations.

Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently to meet various concurrent deadlines.

Knowledge of budget development.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Strong attention to deadlines and project details Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or four (4) years of related work experience in fiscal processes or project coordination

One (1) year of relevant experience

Experience of substance use and addiction

Training and expertise in the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based recovery practices

Experience working with academic institutions, community organizations, and funding organizations (local, state, or federal) Preferred Qualifications

State or national certification in peer support

Knowledge of recovery science content and concepts

Knowledge of research processes within institutions of higher education

Expertise in budget management and ETSU fiscal processes
