QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Ohio Certification/Licensure

Bachelor's Degree

Three or more years of successful teaching/school experience

Demonstrated leadership, communication, and observation skills

Ability to practice evidenced based health and trauma informed practices

Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), MANDT or equivalent certified

Strongly preferred background in school counseling, social work and/or behavior modification

JOB GOAL: The Health Lab is designed to teach stress management and resiliency skills through evidenced based health and trauma informed practices. The coordinator is expected to teach students de-escalation, conflict resolution, and self-regulation strategies and other subject matter and skills necessary for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth. Help students overcome problems that impede learning and help them create plans that hold promise for their personal, school, and community growth.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional:

Teaches content utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.

Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.

Adapts health education material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students.

Selects and requisitions books and instructional materials appropriate to the interest and maturity level of students; maintains required inventory.

Adapts the curriculum to provide individual, small group, or remedial instruction to meet the needs of the individual student.

Develop standards for critical analysis that will enable students to make decisions towards gaining and maintaining optimal wellness.

Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment. Intervention & Success Planning:

Works with students on an individual and small group basis to identify student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping students solve social, emotional, behavioral, and academic problems.

Works as a member of the MTSS team.

Assists staff in developing appropriate Success Plans for students Advisory:

Remains readily available to students so as to provide social and emotional support that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.

Assists students in evaluating their aptitudes and abilities through the interpretation of individual standardized test scores and other pertinent data, and works with students in evolving education and occupation plans in terms of such evaluation.

Works with teachers and other staff members to familiarize them with the general range of service offered by the student personnel services department, and to improve the educational prospects of individual students being counseled.

Guides students in their participation in school and community activities.

Helps students evaluate career interests and choices.

Take an active role in interpreting the school's objectives to students, parents, and the community at large.

Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. General Responsibilities:

Communicates with parents/guardians and school teams about students and their progress.

Ability to interact with a diverse population of internal and external stakeholders.

Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.

Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.

Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and in self-selected professional activities.

Maintains student records and protects their confidentiality.

Other duties as assigned by the principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year as established by the Board and terms of negotiated contract.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel and provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.

Excellent observation and communication skills.

May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.

Assisting students with behavioral/management needs.

Frequent evening and/or weekend work.
