Position Summary
This role provides technical oversight and support for Enterprise Risk electrical projects at a regulated power facility. The specialist acts as a subject matter expert and technical authority, driving execution quality, reducing risks, and improving project outcomes through hands-on support and strategy validation. The position is highly collaborative and plays a key role in minimizing outage durations, reducing costs, and optimizing project delivery on high-impact and critical path initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Oversight & Strategy:
Conduct iterative reviews of project documentation to identify improvements in schedule, cost, and execution quality
Key documentation includes: project schedules, implementation methods, risk registers, WOs, weld records, R&R plans, QC inspections, commissioning plans, clearance orders, tooling strategies, and budget estimates
Review and validate all Work Order Tasks (WOTs) prior to execution to eliminate error traps, poor instructions, or reference issues
Provide input on test plans (factory, mock-up, post-mod, etc.) and identify work activities that warrant mock-up testing
Recommend response strategies for Operating Experience (OE) insights; develop OE-based guidance
Serve as ASME Person-in-Charge (PIC) for Section XI Repair & Replacement scope when needed Governance & Oversight:
Maintain broad expertise in codes, standards, electrical techniques, tooling, and implementation strategies
Monitor field/shop activities, offering real-time feedback and course corrections as needed
Act as designated PIC for project work during opposite shifts from the Project Manager (as needed)
Oversee and coach teams exceeding 50+ personnel on-site during critical path work
Participate in project strategy meetings: design reviews, risk management, readiness reviews, etc. Support & Collaboration:
Work directly with Project Managers to ensure execution readiness and risk mitigation
Interface with vendors and internal teams to eliminate roadblocks and streamline workflows
Participate in high-level integration meetings to align execution strategy with site-wide objectives Education & Experience Requirements
Required (one of the following combinations):
Graduate degree + 10 years of electrical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, or regulated industrial environment
OR Bachelor's degree + 12 years of experience
OR Associate degree + 14 years of experience
OR High school diploma/GED + 16 years of experience Desired Education & Experience
Construction management experience
Experience in multiple refueling outages at a commercial nuclear facility
Experience with operations and production in nuclear environments
Relevant certifications in electrical systems, construction, or project management Key Skills & Qualifications
Required:
Expertise in plant electrical systems and outage processes
Familiarity with Enterprise Management Software (e.g., Asset Suite, SAP)
Proficient with logic-driven project scheduling tools (Primavera, MS Project)
Strong knowledge of code/regulatory requirements affecting maintenance/field activities
Skilled in human performance improvement, cost-effective execution strategies
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Advanced computer skills Desired:
Certifications related to electrical systems or project execution
Deep working knowledge of electrical operations in commercial nuclear plants
