Position Summary

As a member of the Clubhouse Team, the Catering Manager is responsible for the overall planning of the Club's private events, tournaments and club events while working cooperatively with other departments. The Catering Manager will be part of the Clubhouse Leadership team. The Catering Manager will coordinate with the Director of Catering, Executive Chef, Manager of Clubhouse Operations, Food and Beverage Manager, and Food and Beverage Supervisors to maintain the highest standards of food and beverage service and is creative in room setups and presentation. He/she will create and apply relevant marketing principles to assure that the wants and needs of the club's members and guests are consistently exceeded.

Position Responsibilities

Assists with planning and preparation of all arrangements for member private events, banquets, luncheons/dinners, meetings and other social events. Works with member to determine objectives and requirements for their events and to meet their budget including menu's, room setup, color of linen, entertainment, lighting, decorations, flowers, centerpieces, etc.

Responsible for planning and preparation of all arrangements for Golf Tournaments. Works with Golf Shop and Tournament Chairmen to determine requirements for the tournament and to meet their budget including menus, setup, and necessary rentals.

Oversees all "Clubs within the Clubs" weekly/monthly/quarterly events along with all Summer & Holiday Parties

Responsible for communication of all necessary event information with culinary, service and housekeeping staffs; arranges for printing of menus, procuring decorations, entertainment and other special requests.

Responsible for inspecting and performing quality checks for every event prior to the scheduled start time of the event; may be present to oversee the actual greeting and/or servicing of the event. Critiques functions to determine future needs and to implement any changes for increased quality.

Works with Clubhouse Manager & Marketing Director for the planning and oversees execution of Dining Programs.

Suggests and guides members in planning menus in conjunction with Executive Chef and or other culinary staff. Work with the Executive Chef to consistently improve and develop dynamic event menus and pricing for the membership

Work with the Director of Marketing in developing promotions to advertise and market the Club's social event facilities and capabilities to all members

Responsible for all vendor communication and coordination. Ensures that vendors follow club policies when on Club property, provide required insurance certificates, and are providing the highest level of service and quality product.

Obtains necessary permits and insurances for special events/functions

Finalizes Banquet Event Orders on a daily basis with all necessary billing information for the Accounting Department. Responsible for the timely communication to the banquet and Culinary staff of the event attendance, event timing, and event changes as they occur

Works with Clubhouse Leadership Team to guide the planning process and execution of Club events.

Maintains past and potential client files; schedules calls and visits to assess on-going needs of prospective clients for catering services. Continues to acquire knowledge of the latest trends of special events and service by studying trade publications and attending seminars

Handles member/guest complaints and works to provide a solution in a timely professional manner. Resolve problems to the satisfaction of involved parties. Answer telephones in a clear voice, coordinate and document reservations. Maintain communications with all departments to ensure needs are met. Research and resolve member billing questions

Assists with developing catering budgets; reviews financial reports and takes corrective actions as appropriate to help assure that budget goals are met

Assumes responsibility of catering manager when necessary

Ensures that proper housekeeping and energy/labor conservation procedures are always followed in the planning process

Performs all other duties as assigned by the employer

Qualifications

Qualification Standards

Education/Experience

Bachelor's Degree in field or minimum 2 years' experience in the field of Event Planning, hotel experience a plus

Good human relation skills, strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with people at different organizational levels both inside and outside the organization.

Well-developed problem solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and innovative ideas and be willing to incorporate them into existing activities practices.

Golf & Resort Experience a Plus

Highly organized, excellent time management, with ability to multi-task

Northstar experience is a plus

Basic computer skills (Word, excel, Outlook, etc.) knowledge essential

Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organization.

Physical Demands

Must have the ability to sit, stand or move for long periods of time.

Grooming

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per club standards. Professional business attire required.

Other
