Education, Experience and Skills:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

Postgraduate diploma or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant specialization is an advantage.

Experience:

3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar accounting role with a focus on both Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) processes.

Proven experience in managing end-to-end invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and reconciliation activities.

Skills & Competencies:

Technical & Accounting Skills

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP)

Proficiency in managing full-cycle AR and AP processes

Expertise in invoice processing, reconciliation, and cash flow tracking

Solid understanding of VAT, tax compliance, and financial reporting (especially in UAE or GCC context)

Ability to prepare aging reports, payment schedules, and account reconciliations

Systems & Digital Competency

Proficient in ERP and accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, or Tally

Skilled in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation) for reporting and analysis

Experience using CMMS or document management systems for invoice/workflow tracking

Job Purpose:

The Accountant – AR & AP is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate records of all accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions to ensure the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely customer invoicing and collections (AR), as well as accurate and prompt processing of vendor invoices and payments (AP).

The position involves reconciling accounts, monitoring aging reports, preparing financial reports, and ensuring all transactions comply with internal controls, company policies, and applicable financial regulations. The Accountant – AR & AP supports the finance team in maintaining positive cash flow, building strong relationships with clients and vendors, and contributing to monthly and year-end closing processes.

Roles, Responsibilities and Duties:

Accounts Receivable (AR):

Issue accurate and timely invoices in accordance with client contracts, project milestones, and delivery schedules.

Manage daily AR activities, including customer collections, reconciliations, and overdue follow-ups.

Monitor AR aging and proactively reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) through structured collection efforts.

Establish and maintain client account profiles, ensuring accurate contact and billing information.

Assist in credit risk assessment and credit limit reviews for new and existing customers.

Coordinate with legal or collection agencies for unresolved delinquent accounts, when necessary.

Ensure correct revenue recognition practices in line with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS 15, ASC 606).

Accounts Payable (AP):

Manage end-to-end vendor payment processes, from invoice receipt and validation to final payment.

Ensure 3-way matching (invoice, purchase order, goods receipt) to prevent duplicate or erroneous payments.

Maintain an updated AP ledger and perform regular reconciliations with supplier statements and the general ledger.

Coordinate payment batches and forecast weekly cash outflows for financial planning purposes.

Track employee reimbursements, travel claims, and ensure compliance with internal travel & expense policies.

Monitor contract compliance for recurring vendors (e.g., lease, service agreements, utilities).

General Accounting & Reporting:

Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, ensuring AR/AP ledgers are accurate and reconciled.

Prepare reports for management on AP/AR performance, outstanding liabilities/receivables, and cash flow impact.

Assist with financial audits by providing accurate and timely documentation related to AP/AR.

Reconcile sub-ledgers with the general ledger and ensure alignment of AP/AR balances.

Compliance, Governance & Internal Controls:

Ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with IFRS/local accounting standards, tax laws, and company policies.

Validate proper VAT treatment on AP and AR transactions and support VAT return preparation.

Maintain records in line with data retention policies and support financial audits or regulatory inspections.

Strengthen internal control mechanisms by identifying and mitigating risks in the AP/AR processes.

Systems & Process Optimization:

Operate and maintain ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics).

Assist with system implementations, upgrades, or migration of AP/AR modules.

Contribute to process automation efforts to improve efficiency, reduce manual errors, and speed up reconciliation.

Identify bottlenecks or recurring issues in the AR/AP cycle and propose long-term solutions.

Cash Flow & Budget Support:

Forecast short-term and long-term cash inflows and outflows based on AR/AP schedules.

Assist the finance team in developing and maintaining working capital plans.

Monitor and control spending against approved budgets and flag variances for review.

Cross-Functional & External Coordination:

Work closely with procurement, operations, legal, and commercial teams to resolve disputes or support vendor/customer engagement.

Liaise with banks and financial institutions for payment processing, customer receipts, and bank reconciliations.

Support onboarding of new vendors/customers in coordination with legal and compliance.

Other Duties:

Stay updated on financial and regulatory changes (e.g., UAE Corporate Tax, VAT, ESR) and adjust processes accordingly.

Participate in training, team reviews, and continuous learning programs related to finance operations.
