We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our team in Waianae, Hawaii. In this role, you will oversee key accounting functions, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and support the Controller with financial reporting and analysis. Responsibilities:
• Supervise and guide accounting staff to ensure accuracy and efficiency in daily operations.
• Oversee the preparation of financial reports, including month-end closures, cash flow statements, and audit documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory standards.
• Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with the Controller to produce timely and accurate financial statements, and step in as needed to support their role.
• Research and stay informed on accounting standards, ensuring the organization remains compliant with industry practices.
• Manage tax filings, grant reporting, and audit processes for the organization and its subsidiaries.
• Monitor fixed asset accounting and maintain detailed records for financial reporting purposes.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and provide recommendations to optimize accounting workflows.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred; an associate degree with substantial experience may be considered.
• At least five years of experience in accounting and management, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Familiarity with healthcare organizations is a plus but not required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and related accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, such as Sage Intacct.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Physical capability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
