Position Description:
Works alongside law enforcement to provide immediate, on-scene behavioral health intervention during mental health-related calls; using a trauma-informed, person-centered approach to de-escalate the situation, develop short-term stabilization plans, and link individuals to community resources and long-term care.
Ride along with law enforcement on designated shifts to respond to mental health calls.
Provide on-site support, emotional de-escalation, and behavioral health triage.
Collaborate with the officer to determine appropriate intervention strategies.
Develop short-term stabilization and safety plans with individuals and families.
Offer community-based alternatives to hospitalization or arrest.
Document and communicate follow-up needs for ongoing safety.
Connect individuals to behavioral health, housing, substance use, and/or crisis services.
Provide warm hand-offs and coordinate with community providers.
Maintain strong working knowledge of local and state support systems.
Collaborate with officers and clinical teams during and after calls.
Participate in team briefings and debriefings to review cases and improve practices.
Provide trauma-informed insights to officers to enhance team approaches.
Conduct follow-up within 24–72 hours post-intervention to ensure care coordination.
Accurately document all assessments, interventions, referrals, and plans.
Complete data collection as requested by local police department.
All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a mental health related field or a Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years supervised experience in a treatment setting.
Obtain and/or Maintain case management certification.
Basic understanding of social and cultural factors influencing human behavior.
Capability to work as part of a team.
Will abide by ethical policies and practices for both CREOKS and State oversight agencies and boards.
Understand and abide by all legal aspects of clinical practices.
Strong Commuication and interpersonal skills; ability to stay calm under pressure.
Able to provide culturally competent treatment.
Clinical documentation shall meet CREOKS, state, and national standards.
Valid driver's license and willingness to participate in ride-alongs with officers.
Conceptual grasp of community based mental health and substance abuse services.
Core competencies in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders and trauma-informed care.Company Description
