Genesis technical has a Lighting Services Engineer in Anniston, AL for 3-year project.
Candidates must have:
Either prior utility construction or engineering experience or an engineering degree from an accredited university
Lighting design certifications, such as LC (Lighting Certified), are a plus
Proven experience in lighting design and engineering, preferably in a consulting or architectural firm
Familiarity with lighting design software (e.g., AGi32, Dialux) is beneficial
In-depth knowledge of lighting principles, photometry, and the use of lighting fixtures, controls, and technologies
Familiarity with lighting codes, standards, and regulations, including ASHRAE, IESNA, and energy codes
Proficiency in lighting design software, AutoCAD, and other relevant design tools
Must have a driver’s license w/ own car or truck to use
Required PPE: Hard Hat, Safety Vest, Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Boots (on employee), FR clothing may be needed occasionally

This position will require extensive field work and customer interaction with residential customers. It is anticipated that the successful candidate should expect to spend three out of five days a week auditing, field checking, and meeting with residential customers.

A Lighting Services Engineer is a professional responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining lighting systems for various applications, such as commercial buildings, residential spaces, outdoor environments, and industrial facilities. They collaborate with clients, architects, and project teams to create effective and energy-efficient lighting solutions.
Responsibilities:
Design Lighting Systems: Collaborate with clients and architects to understand project requirements and objectives. Design lighting systems that meet aesthetic, functional, and energy-efficiency goals.
Lighting Calculations: Perform lighting calculations and simulations to determine the appropriate fixtures, luminance levels, and lighting layouts for different spaces.
Energy Efficiency: Focus on energy-efficient lighting design by incorporating LED technology, daylight harvesting, and other sustainable practices to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
Technical Drawings: Create detailed lighting plans, technical drawings, and specifications that can be used by contractors and installers for construction and implementation.
Product Selection: Select lighting fixtures, controls, and accessories based on project requirements, budget constraints, and client preferences.
Compliance: Ensure that lighting designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including energy codes, safety guidelines, and accessibility requirements.
Site Visits: Conduct site visits and evaluations to assess existing lighting conditions, troubleshoot issues, and gather data for retrofit or renovation projects.
Budget Management: Estimate project costs, prepare lighting budgets, and monitor expenses to stay within budgetary constraints.
Project Management: Manage lighting projects from concept to completion, coordinating with contractors, electricians, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate installation.
Quality Control: Perform quality control inspections to verify that lighting systems are installed correctly and function as designed.
Commissioning: Oversee the commissioning process to ensure that lighting controls and systems operate efficiently and according to design specifications. Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, specifications, change orders, and as-built records.
Client Communication: Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction with the lighting solutions.
Technology Integration: Explore and integrate smart lighting systems, automation, and controls to enhance user experience and energy savings. Qualifications: Education: A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field are desired, but not required.
