TITLE: Interim Stars K5 Program Manager
OBJECTIVE: Manage the Afterschool & Summer Programs for Grades K- 5
SCOPE: This position interacts specifically with Kindergarten through 5th grade students and their families in the Afterschool Program at Stars
CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
SALARY: $27 per hour
EFFECTIVE DATE: April 30, 2025
RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Associate Director
Supervises Program Assistants
Collaborates with internal staff and community partners
Member of Stars staff
HOURS: Up to 35 hours per week
Occasional weekend events
Flexible administrative hours
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate possesses:
experience working with students grade K-5
experience with parent engagement
background in mindfulness, trauma informed and restorative practices
excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Spanish-speaking skills preferred
a high level of integrity, self-motivation, and desire for excellence
an Associates degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred
proficiency in Google products

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Management
Develop and implement age-appropriate, engaging curricula and activities that align with the mission and goals of Stars. Summer focus will include art, reading and play along with other topics.
Oversee the daily operations of the K-5 program, including scheduling, activity planning, and resource allocation.
Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all students, adhering to safety and health protocols.
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed to meet student needs and improve outcomes.
Support and Art event to help get supplies to fire impacted families
Student Support
Build positive relationships with students to foster trust, belonging, and a sense of community.
Address individual student needs by providing academic support, encouragement, and resources.
Identify and respond to behavioral challenges in a constructive manner, implementing positive discipline strategies.
Team Leadership
Supervise program staff and volunteers, ensuring they are equipped to deliver high-quality programming.
Conduct regular team meetings and provide ongoing professional development for staff.
Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture, ensuring alignment with the organization’s values and goals.
Family and Community Engagement
Build strong relationships with families, keeping them informed and engaged in their child's progress and program activities.
Act as a liaison between Stars, some community organizations to support students and families.
Organize family events, workshops, and opportunities for parental involvement.
Administration and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and program activities.
Prepare regular reports on program outcomes, challenges, and successes for the Associate Director.
Manage program budgets and ensure responsible use of resources.
Other Responsibilities
Collaborate with other program leads to align K-12 initiatives and create seamless transitions between age groups.
Participate in organizational meetings, events, and trainings as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director.

Program Assistants for planning, implementation strategies, and mentoring
Community Engagement Coordinator for volunteer relationships
Engagement Manager for donor relations
Stars program families for relationship building, partnership and volunteerism
Stars’ staff, volunteers, ministry leaders, and community partners for support
Pasadena Unified School District and Collaborate Pasadena for support
Committee members and event organizers for support
Speakers and trainers at workshops and conferences for support
Requirements
Physical ability to work around children including sitting, standing, kneeling and climbing stairs for extended periods of time.
Work at a computer, requiring the ability to send and receive information with necessary optical, auditory, and manual dexterity.
Use a keyboard and mouse to enter, retrieve or transfer words or data information and/or move from screen to screen on the computer to view information.
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; comprehend and speak English.
Display the reading skills necessary to proofread written material.
Perform basic mathematical calculations.

$27/hour
