Salary: $60,000.00

Job Summary

Serving as a member of the Presidents Cabinet and reporting directly to the Vice President of

External Affairs, the Director of Business Development and Fundraising is responsible for contributing

to New River Community and Technical Colleges revenue growth through the development and

execution of new business and fundraising strategies. This position is responsible for the coordination

and continued development of internal and external stakeholders, the educational foundation

fundraising efforts, increasing the offering(s) and enrollment of external workforce training and

retraining programs, and growing the non-credit and continuing education programs to meet the

economic and workforce development needs of the colleges service region. The successful candidate

will plan and implement effective sales and fundraising strategies, secure resources through

stewardship of existing relationships and cultivation of new business development opportunities.

Establishing priorities for contributing to the overall revenue growth of the college by balancing the

needs of community partners and increasing workforce offerings to meet the economic and

workforce development needs in the region are essential to success.

Roles and Responsibilities

Strategy and Management

Actively work with the College President and Vice President for External Affairs to develop

and execute a multi-year comprehensive development plan with effective sales and

fundraising strategies to provide a diverse and sustainable funding base for New River

Community and Technical College.

Represents the College President and/or Vice President for External Affairs at public, social,

and business gatherings and serve on various College and external committees and

associations.

Conduct analyses and valuation of workforce programs and fundraising initiatives for

alignment with colleges enrollment strategy, ensuring viability and profitability.

Develops and maintains business plans, activities, and budgets.

Prepares clear, concise, and accurate department administrative and financial reporting.

Provide leadership in the development and expansion of the New River Community and

Technical College Foundation.

Fundraising

Identifies and secures sources of funding for the College. Leads and participates in the fund

raising and development efforts for the service region within the strategic plan of the College.

Holds primary responsibility for building the fundraising pipeline.

Assist with the educational foundations scholarship award process.

Assists with the development and recommendation of policy and procedure. Ensure

compliance with colleges policies and procedures and applicable state and federal

regulations aligned with fundraising.

Sales and Business Development

Drive new business sales process in collaboration with Dean of Workforce, Technical and

Community Education

Establish and maintain working relationships with the regional Chambers of Commerce,

Economic Development Authorities, Boards of Education, elected officials, and relative

groups.

Develop and maintain business, industry, and community partnerships in the nine-county

service region to foster and support workforce development and economic growth.

Qualifications:

relationships

Education

Bachelor's degree - Business Administration, Communication, Public Relations, or related field. - Required

Master's degree - Related Field - Preferred

Experience

In addition to the knowledge/education, the following related work experience is typically required for this

position. An equivalent combination of education and recent, related experience may be acceptable.

Administration - Successful and diverse administrative experience in business, government, public relations, workforce development and/or higher education. 3-5+ years required.

Fundraising - Experience in fund-raising and/or cultivating internal and external relationships in higher education, government, a non-profit organization, or related field. 3+ years required.

Sales/Marketing/Promotion - Experience in sales, including new client cultivation and ongoing positive relationships with existing clients; using well-informed arguments to prospective customers that encourage businesses and industries to invest in training provided by New River CTC; excellent customer service and communication skills that ensure cosign the sales and following up with the clients. 3+ years preferred

Preference may be given to those with community college experience.
