Position Description:
The Quality Manager position is responsible for managing all quality aspects of Vicksburg’s products. This includes interacting with customers internal and external to IP, timely response to inquiries and complaints and proactively improving customer relations. Also, the Quality Manager works with IP Customer Technical Service (CTS) and with the Vicksburg Mill team to communicate customer issues, identify and resolved quality issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction while adhering to all safety requirements. This position is responsible for monitoring quality control/standards and completing audits to ensure accurate data and sustainable results. This position will manage hourly laboratory team members engaged in performing chemical and physical analyses and tests required for research development or quality control of processes or products. The Quality Manager handles a broad range of complex situations or problems where no precedence exists. They establish goals and schedules. The Quality Manager is responsible for educating the Finished Products crews on what our customers expect and how marginal product impacts box making. This position coordinates laboratory administration including purchasing and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies while ensuring that all activities are in compliance with organization goals and applicable regulations. Successful candidates must be able to utilize technical knowledge to assist the business units in identifying and/or establishing product strategy and maintaining knowledge of strategic customer's operational practices and quality expectations. This position reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Excellence.
Position Responsibilities:
A successful Quality Manager will have the following areas of responsibility:
Manage all technical lab activities
Lead research/data analysis on customer complaints and concerns to get to and resolve root cause
Visit customers and be the direct link with all CTS managers on field issues
Manage lab personnel job assignments
Responsible for ensuring all hourly personnel are trained on laboratory testing requirements to sustain accurate data
Ensure test equipment accuracy and maintain in working condition.
Specifications/Trials/Quality- Is the facilitator for paper mill Proficy system, coordinates trials in the mill/and responsible for the day to day quality of roll stock leaving the mill.
Finished Products- Must have a strong relationship with FP management team, will coordinate trial work with FP, disposition non A-1 roll stock and give direction to FP team on any and all issues.
Complaint and credit statistics reporting, month end and quarterly quality reports, project department monetary needs, lab equipment reliability and accuracy

The successful candidate will have at least five (5) years of industrial experience, preferably within the paper or packaging industry or a bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 2 years of equivalent experience. Successful candidates will have at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Must be experienced using a computer and skilled in word processing, spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel), Microsoft Project, SAP business systems, and other databases. Position level may vary based on experience.
