Snowflake Engineer/Admin Key Responsibilities
Administered and optimized Snowflake environments, including schema creation, table setup, user management, warehouse scaling, performance tuning, backups, and monitoring disk/query performance.
Manage replication processes using tools like FiveTran or HVR, including creating locations and channels, monitoring agents, analyzing latency, and ensuring efficient replication flow.
Develop and troubleshoot complex SQL queries (T-SQL preferred) and leverage Python for automation, performance analysis, and orchestrating workflows to connect databases with Snowflake.
Collaborate with data engineering, security, and application teams to ensure database reliability, performance, and alignment with business needs.
Document database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps comprehensively to support team knowledge sharing and compliance.
Participate in on-call rotations and off-hours deployments to maintain system availability and performance. Required Skills and Qualifications Database Administration (50%)
Extensive experience in Snowflake administration (not ETL), including end-to-end ownership of schema creation, table setup, user management, performance tuning, warehouse scaling, backups, and troubleshooting query/disk performance issues.
Strong hands-on experience with replication tools (FiveTran or HVR), including creating locations/channels, monitoring agents, and analyzing replication latency.
Proficiency in checking thresholds, analyzing warehouse blocking, and remediating query slowness in Snowflake environments. Scripting and Integration (50%)
Strong SQL skills (T-SQL preferred) for writing and optimizing complex queries.
Experience with Python for automation, performance analysis, and orchestrating workflows to integrate databases with Snowflake.
Ability to connect Snowflake with other database systems through scripting and automation. Additional Considerations
Experience with RDBMS platforms is a plus:
Oracle: User/schema setup, pipeline management.
DB2 (On-Prem): Hands-on experience with AIX/DB2 utilities (backup, reorg, runstats, rebind).
SQL Server: Familiarity with general usage and indexing strategies.
Familiarity with AWS services (e.g., RDS, DMS, S3, Glue, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Redis) in managing Snowflake environments is advantageous.
Exposure to DevOps practices, including version control tools (e.g., Git) and SDLC/Agile environments, is highly valued.
