Job Description
Norfolk Collegiate is seeking a Director of Learning Services to support students with diverse learning needs in grades Pre-K through 12. Reporting to the Director of Instruction, the Director of Learning Services leads the Lower School Learning Resource Program and the Middle and Upper School Learning Resource Center, providing oversight and strategic guidance for these programs. The director is a visible and active presence across all divisions, supporting faculty and students with a range of learning styles.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading the Learning Resource Program (Lower School) and Learning Resource Center (Middle and Upper Schools)
Collaborating with faculty and staff to design and implement student success plans for students with learning differences or identified learning needs
Serving as a resource and thought partner to faculty in adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs
Communicating effectively with families regarding student support strategies and progress
Maintaining up-to-date documentation and student records related to learning support services
Staying current on best practices in learning support, special education, and student accommodations
Participating in the admission process to assess and provide feedback on applicants with learning needs
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education, psychology, or a related field
Experience in special education or learning support within a school setting
Familiarity with special education systems, practices, and legal considerations
Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and faculty
Experience in a diverse, college-preparatory school environment is preferred
