Responsibilities

Summary:

The EOIR Supervisor supports the effective and efficient processing of individuals. Assists in supervising security/control activities and staff in an assigned area, which provides for maximum facility coordination in prison supervision and safety, in addition to the preparation of required records and reports.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the EOIR personnel with removal planning to include assistance coordinating the transportation of the detainees.

Respond to major unusual occurrences. Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to detainees/inmates in the event of injury, illness or emotional trauma.

Give primary guidance on situational problems, making referrals for more complex problems.

Direct the work of other employees. This includes selection, hiring, evaluating job performance, employee training/development, promoting and any disciplinary action, including termination.

Responsible for the coordination of work assignments for all staff assigned to assist with the intake and release of detainees.

Review disciplinary matters concerning both staff and detainees.

Review staff effectiveness to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

Give primary guidance on situational problems, making referrals for more complex problems.

Prepare records and reports assigned by management.

Responsible for attaining facility goals/objectives and ensuring compliance with all rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures for security operations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED certification required.

Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a detention officer and two (2) years of successful experience in field supervision (e.g., civilian community law enforcement, commercial or industrial guard service, or security service supervisory positions). The two (2) year requirement may be satisfied by completion of a career development program that includes work-related experience, training, or college credits at a level of achievement equivalent to the basic requirement, as practiced in the federal hiring process.

College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred.

Must be mature, flexible, intellectually alert, able to command the respect and confidence of detainees/inmates and staff and possess a high tolerance to mental stress.

Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
