Job Description
Headfarmer is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Team Lead to co-lead a high-performing payroll processing team for our client. This position supports the Payroll Manager, supervises a team of specialists, and serves as a second-tier subject matter expert. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, have multi-state payroll experience, and excel at optimizing processes—this role is for you. Full time, Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm. Hybrid schedule after 90 days.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee payroll for state-funded programs and service providers across 20+ states
Ensure accuracy and timely processing of payroll
Enhance and implement efficient payroll procedures and software solutions
Support and coach payroll staff through training and feedback
Resolve payroll discrepancies and manage escalated inquiries
Perform audits and generate reports to support team development
Qualifications:
1+ year of leadership experience
2+ years of payroll experience
Strong Microsoft Excel skills - VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP/Pivot Tables
Proven ability to multitask in time-sensitive situations
High attention to detail and a commitment to quality work
Willingness to occasionally work outside regular hours when neededCompany Description
