SUMMARY OF POSITION - The Quality Assurance Specialist maintains quality standards by performing various quality projects dealing with incoming inspection, in-process inspection, finished product inspection, and laboratory testing. This position ensures that products meet or exceed internal requirements, regulatory, and customer standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned)

Creates inspection guides, procedures and forms for quality assurance department personnel.

Performs quality tests using a wide variety of inspection/test equipment including, but not limited to: dial calipers, hardness, pin and thread gauges, and tensile testing equipment.

Communicates information on quality trends and issues to Quality and Operations management.

Assists with simple engineering projects when required.

Maintains test equipment calibration; calibrates tools in-house, ships tools to outside laboratories for calibration when needed, updates calibration database.

Maintains a safe and healthy environment by adhering to company rules and policies and complying with legal regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Authorized to work in the U.S.

High School Degree or equivalent required.

A technical Associate’s Degree, Engineering degree, or related field and equivalent combination of education, vocational training and related experience preferred.

Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years related experience in manufacturing and quality required.

Fluent in MS Office applications; Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Sharepoint.

Proficient at reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.

Working knowledge and understanding of basic standard quality tools, inspection methods, sampling techniques, and ASTM testing.

Limited knowledge of SAP a plus.

SKILLS

Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Excellent time management, multi-tasking, organizational skills and ability to work without direct supervision.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and math skills.

“Hands on”, i.e. mechanically inclined. Comfortable with hand tools and using them.

Strong teamwork skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships.

Careful attention to detail and accuracy required.

Ability to rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
