**Hybrid eligible: ** Employees may telework up to 50% or more, depending on the position and the needs of the division. Employees who live 50 miles or more from their permanent work location may be allowed to telework more than 50% with approval from the division director.

This position is responsible for maintaining and disseminating complete and accurate information and records related to body worn camera requests, use of force and pursuit reporting, background checks and expungement requests for Minnesota State Patrol operations. This position utilizes their technical knowledge of State Patrol and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) systems housing criminal justice information to ensure all relevant statutes, rules, policies and precedents are applied appropriately to the work performed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years' experience ensuring documents meet legal and/or policy requirements. Experience must demonstrate the following:

Creating and analyzing legal documents to make recommendations to the legal team and/or leadership.

Read and comprehend program-related materials, manuals, statutes, rules, etc.

Technology proficiency to manage and navigate multiple software applications and databases.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey complicated and procedural information clearly and concisely.

Problem solving, time management, and prioritization skills.

Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from underserved and diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of a legal secretary, legal administrative assistant, or related post-secondary training program or certification

Five or more years of experience as a legal secretary or legal administrative assistant.

Knowledge of law enforcement operations and programs.

Experience with software applications such as advanced Microsoft Office suite products, body-worn camera and fleet video platforms.

Physical Requirements

Medium: Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50-pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
