SUMMARY: Westell is seeking a RF Test Engineer to join Westell's product development team. This position will provide testing, design and technical support for a variety of Westell's growing product lines - to include but not limited to our In Building Wireless (IBW) division. This position will work closely with all functional groups within the organization. The ideal candidate will have proven cross functional team experience working with local and remote teams. Westell is sized such that it will provide you the opportunity to be involved with all aspects of product design and development. You will readily see the direct impact of your contributions. The position is located in our Aurora, Illinois headquarters.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
IBW Design Support/Test/Documentation
Achieve New Product Design Goals and Milestones
Execute testing support for IBW designs
Existing product support
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical expertise in new product definition, design, testing and technical support Direct testing and evaluation of internally and externally developed RF designs/products Generation of technical documentation including test specifications and results
Act as a product expert providing technical support for sales and marketing activities
Frequent customer interaction with regard to field issues and solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
Five or more years of experience in wireless product design and testing.
Knowledge of cellular and/or public safety DAS network design and operation
Experience creating and maintaining Python scripts
Familiarity with RF filter turning
Hands on expertise with various test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum/network/vector analyzers and signal sources
Knowledge of FCC and UL safety standards (e.g. UL62348, FCC Part 15, 20, 90, etc)
Strong communication and leadership skills working in cross functional teams
Ability to identify shortcomings in a cross functional organization and contribute in any capacity where needed
Experience with Microsoft Office
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with digital simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB)
Experience with RF planning and system design tools (e.g., iBwave)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Required to sit, stand, bend and walk regularly; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Visual and auditory ability sufficient for written and verbal communication.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Up to 30% travel to meet with and provide field support to customers.Company Description
