Job Description

We are seeking a Controller for a well established consumer product goods company based in Orange County, CA. The company is seeking a hands on dynamic and experienced Controller to join the team. This is a high-impact, hands-on role offering the opportunity to shape the financial infrastructure of the business.

Position Summary:

The Controller will lead and oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including month-end close, internal and external financial reporting, compliance, and financial controls. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong foundation in both public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and private sector experience. This role requires a CPA with a minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, strong technical expertise, and proven leadership in managing teams through high-growth environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, and payroll accounting.

Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.

Prepare internal financial statements, management reports, and external reporting for stakeholders.

Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

Collaborate with FP&A, operations, and executive leadership to support strategic initiatives and provide insights into financial performance.

Manage and mentor a growing accounting team, providing leadership, development, and performance management.

Serve as the primary contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and banking/lending partners.

Drive systems improvements and ERP optimization to support scalability.

Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local legal requirements by researching and interpreting new legislation.

Qualifications:

CPA required.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree preferred.

8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and 5+ years in a private sector/corporate accounting leadership role.

Prior experience in a manufacturing or consumer product goods environment is strongly preferred.

Hands-on and detail-oriented, with the ability to lead both strategy and execution in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.

Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar) and reporting tools.

Proven ability to manage and develop a team.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
