Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid – Onsite Tue–Thu Remote Mon & Fri)
Pay Rate: $50.00 -$56.00/hour
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
This is a long-term contract role with the possibility of extension or direct hire.
About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and community-driven Regional Workforce Development Manager to lead and expand workforce development initiatives across Grand Rapids and Muskegon, with eventual growth into Northern and Western Michigan regions. This high-impact role supports skilled trade programs, DEI workforce initiatives, veteran outreach, and community engagement.
You'll be responsible for strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, talent pipeline development, and event activation. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in workforce development, strong relationship-building skills, and a passion for equity and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
Lead strategic workforce initiatives across targeted regions, driving project execution and program impact.
Develop and manage project plans, budgets, schedules, and resource allocations.
Build partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and employers to source and prepare talent.
Design and implement programs for underrepresented populations and individuals with employment barriers.
Represent our client at hiring fairs, recruiting events, and community meetings.
Track KPIs and report progress to senior leadership through presentations and strategic updates.
Collaborate cross-functionally to align program goals with broader hiring and brand strategies.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree
5+ years’ experience in workforce development, skilled trades initiatives, or employment programming
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience managing complex projects and cross-functional teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools
Preferred:
Degree in Business, HR, Public Admin, Communications, or related field
Experience with DEI workforce programs or recruiting in underrepresented communities
Familiarity with local and state workforce development systems
Ability to attend in-person events, occasionally outside business hoursCompany Description
