Position Summary
Black Diamond Advanced Technology (BDATech) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to assist in developing new products from conception through to manufacturing. They will be required to create and read engineering drawings/documents including technical drawings, schematics, BOMs, work instructions and computer-generated reports. They will also be responsible for researching and analyzing customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, to evaluate the feasibility of designs and/or applications and design for manufacturability.

Develop and derive requirements
Ability to track top level project status including organize, hold, and assist with peer and design reviews
Research, evaluation, design, and testing of products, equipment, and systems, ensuring they meet customer and BDATech requirements
Design responsibilities/knowledge to include:
Proficiency with 3D CAD software, CREO or similar
Design of rugged mechanical enclosures and components for packaging electronics
Design of injection molded, machined, formed sheet metal, and die cut parts
Experience with flex and rigid printed circuit assemblies
Design of injected molding tools/ vacuum fixtures/ production assembly fixtures
Design of test control apparatuses and equipment
Modifications to eliminate defects and/or failures to existing products
Ability to use manual lathe, mill, and other power tools
Ability to assemble initial prototypes of products
Ability to read and interpret vendor datasheets for electronic components and connectors
Investigate equipment failures and difficulties, diagnosing faulty operations and make repair recommendations to technicians
Finish tasks promptly in an allotted amount of time
Minimal oversight required for completion of tasks; able to problem solve and address issues without re-direction
Able to work multiple tasks simultaneously, accommodate shifting priorities and manage time accordingly

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
BDATech observes a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday is off)
This position is 100% NON-Remote position
Travel
This position has a possibility of traveling up to 5%.
Required Education and Experience
BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
4+ years of product design experience of electronic products
Experience designing and building ruggedized products that meet MIL-810 standards
Experience in 3D printing (FDM/Resin)
Experience in assembly & documentation of engineering builds
Experience working with project budgets
Proficient in Microsoft Office products
Team Player, and the ability to work well with other disciplines
Effective oral and written communication skills
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance
