Job Description

About Alfa ITG:

Alfa ITG is a leading tooling company providing cradle-to-grave engineered solutions for the manufacturing industry incorporating Artificial Intelligence to enhance and differentiate both Alfa ITG and our customers. We are a nimble, fast growing systems integrator that designs, builds, and installs automation systems for leading North American and global OEMs. We specialize in taking a customer's product concept from a clean sheet of paper and engineering and building a complete system to produce that product efficiently, within specified cycle times, and to the highest quality standards. Our multidisciplinary team marries mechanical design, controls, and manufacturing know how to deliver turnkey automation cells—on time, on budget, and production ready. In this role you’ll have the autonomy to drive entire engineering work streams, yet your voice will be heard at the highest levels.

Position Summary:

Alfa ITG is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our team. The Project Engineer is the engineering “owner” for one or more active programs. You’ll take concepts from napkin sketch through detailed design, fabrication, runoff, and launch—coordinating internal designers, external suppliers, and plant personnel along the way. You are the single point of contact to the Project Manager for all engineering scope, schedule, and technical decisions.

Responsibilities:

· Lead day to day engineering activities for assigned projects (mechanical, controls, simulation) ensuring technical integrity, cost adherence, and schedule compliance.

· Develop & own 3D mechanical designs: weld fixtures, robots EOAT, part handling tooling, safety guarding, and ergonomics per OEM specs and industry standards.

· Develop & own process engineering deliverables: layouts, cycle time analysis, ergonomic analysis, process flow diagrams, joint allocation matrix, FMEAs, throughput analysis

· Plan, track, and report engineering deliverables (design release matrix, BOM status, open issues) to the Project Manager and customer; escalate risks early.

· Generate/approve engineering outputs—2D detail drawings, GD&T, FEA checks, pneumatic/hydraulic schematics, robot reach studies, installation packages.

· Interface with customers & suppliers: clarify specifications, manage design reviews (virtual and on site), and verify acceptances (FDR, PDR, PSO).

· Support build, runoff, and launch: troubleshoot fit up issues, lead corrective actions, update documentation, and coach shop/field teams.

Minimum Qualifications

· 5+ years total engineering experience in automation; preferred experience in automotive manufacturing

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or closely related).

· Demonstrated 3D CAD mastery (CATIA V5, NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor) including large assembly management and surfacing.

· Strong grasp of GD&T, weld symbols, fixture design, and tolerance stack ups.

· Track record of leading multi disciplinary engineering efforts on projects $1 M.

· Working knowledge of robotics (Fanuc/KUKA/ABB), PLC/controls basics, pneumatics/hydraulics, and tooling standards (GM Global, Ford F MC, Stellantis).

· Comfortable with frequent context switching; able to juggle several projects and still hit deadlines.

· Excellent written/verbal communication and confidence presenting to OEM engineers and plant leadership.

· Eligible to work in Canada/USA and able to travel domestically & internationally.

Benefits:

· Competitive salary

· Flexible work hours with a hybrid work model (3 days work from home, 2 days in office).

· Opportunity to work on challenging and rewarding projects for leading OEMs

· Collaborative and supportive work environment.
