About the Role:
The role of Harness Design Engineer Specialist will be working in our Harness Group and be responsible for helping to designing and constructing Electrical Harness Designs that will be used in our next generation of combat vehicles.
Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role:
Designing electrical wiring harnesses to include component selection for connectors, backshells, sleeving, braiding, sealants, boots, transitions, etc.
Determining harness layout through vehicle and branch points for multi-branch harnesses
Designing to environmental requirements for temperature, shock, vibration, submergence and exposure to harsh chemicals
Designing harnesses in Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, working specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology
Secondary Tasks:
Working with CAD draftsman to route harnesses in 3D CAD tools (Pro-E and/or NX)
Working with CAD draftsman to develop released drawings for harnesses, electrical installations, wiring diagrams, etc.
Working with systems engineers to define whole vehicle pin-level interconnect
Working with physical architects to define harness routing channels, space claims
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Sought:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 7 years of relevant post graduate work.
Ability to balance cost/schedule/technical priorities.
Occasional overtime and weekend hours may be required to complete critical tasks.
Experience with Microsoft Visio desirable.
Experience with Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology is desirable.
Experience with Pro-E Creo desirable.
Experience with NX desirable.
Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
Strong multi-tasking skills.
Strong record keeping skills.
Must be able to obtain a security clearance if necessary.
Additional Information / Desired Experience
This position may require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance.
Previous experience with ground combat Vehicle environment is a plus.
Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills is required. Works well in team and individually
Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
