Operations Manager

A family farming operation in western Kansas is seeking an Operations Manager to join their team. This farm consists of 16,000 acres and is operated by the third generation. Crops grown consist of wheat, milo, corn, and pinto beans with approximately one fourth of the acreage being irrigated. This is a rural region with excellent schools and churches and is a a great place to raise a family.

The Operations Manager works closely with the farm owners and is responsible for managing seven to ten H2A employees. You will actively recruit, hire, train, and evaluate the staff. You will be responsible for safety trainings and protocols. Equipment on the farm is all John Deere and precision systems use the John Deere platform. You will manage all service and maintenance and will be responsible for knowing when to call in a professional to make a repair.

The farm owners desire an individual who sees the big picture and can be a partner when it comes to strategic planning, budgeting, and prioritizing capital needs. A working knowledge and experience operating large farm machinery coupled to LEAN manufacturing skills and operating efficiencies are vital to your success. Agronomic knowledge is vital coupled to experiences with irrigation and grain storage.
