Job Title: Repair Department Manager
Location: Beacon Falls, CT

Salary: Around $80K, depending on experience and flexible for the right candidate
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Repair Department Manager to oversee a team of machinists and customer service personnel. In this role, you will be responsible for setting priorities, providing technical guidance, and ensuring timely repairs in line with customer expectations. You will communicate with customers at all stages, from receipt of product to evaluation, quoting, and final analysis after repairs are completed. This position is critical to ensuring smooth operations, on-time delivery, and maintaining high standards of quality and service.
You will also be required to understand customer issues and effectively convey those needs to the machinists, ensuring that the repair work meets both technical specifications and customer expectations. You’ll create worksheets and follow up on the repair progress, staying organized and ensuring timely updates are communicated. Your strong understanding of mechanical devices and machining processes, combined with excellent communication and organizational skills, will be essential to your success in this role. This position reports directly to the President.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Coordination
Manage a team of 4 machinists and 1 customer service person, providing direction and technical guidance
Set priorities for the repair department, ensuring effective and timely completion of tasks
Customer Communication & Reporting
Communicate with customers through all phases of the repair process
Understand customer issues, relay those to the machinists, and ensure repairs meet their needs
Send detailed repair reports to customers, including what was found, corrected, and pricing information
Communicate to customers, addressing their concerns and providing updates
Repair Process Management
Create spare parts lists from manufacturing prints and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Review and scrutinize AutoCAD drawings for repair accuracy
Work closely with the manufacturing foreman to ensure that repair delivery meets deadlines and quality standards
Create worksheets and track the progress of repairs to ensure efficient workflow
Technical Expertise & Oversight
Possess a strong understanding of mechanical devices, machining processes, and other manufacturing techniques (e.g., heat treating, welding, etc.)
Ensure repairs adhere to high-quality standards and address customer specifications
Requirements:
Proven experience in a leadership or management role in a repair or manufacturing environment
Strong communication and computer skills, with the ability to interact with customers effectively
Ability to understand customer issues and translate those into clear instructions for the machinists
Experience creating worksheets and following up on repair progress
Expertise in creating spare parts lists from manufacturing prints and BOMs
Deep understanding of mechanical devices, machining, and manufacturing processes
Proficiency in AutoCAD for reviewing and understanding technical drawings
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a team effectively to meet deadlines
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
