SAFETY & SECURITY PATROL OFFICER
The Milwaukee Rescue Mission is seeking a full-time, 2nd shift Safety & Security Patrol Officer. This position will provide proactive security enforcement, emergency response, and deterrence against crime and vandalism at both Milwaukee Rescue Mission campuses.
LOCATIONS:
Central Campus: 830 N 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53233 – Home to our shelters, recovery programs and administrative offices
North Campus: 1530 W Center Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53206 – Home to Cross Trainers Academy (CTA), K4-12th grade Christian School
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, Tuesday-Saturday, 4:00pm-Midnight, with the flexibility to adjust schedule for school events and weekend support.
HIRING RANGE: $21.15 - $22.32 plus applicable shift differential
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct daily patrols between campuses in a marked security vehicle, ensuring a visible security presence to deter crime and misconduct
Monitor and support on-site safety personnel and security coverage for after-hours events, including basketball games at the North Campus (Cross Trainers Academy)
Operate a marked patrol vehicle to prevent vehicle theft and respond rapidly to security concerns
Maintain strict building access control, preventing unauthorized entry and ensuring only authorized individuals access restricted areas
Respond to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, vandalism, and disorderly conduct, requesting assistance from emergency personnel for high risk situations
If necessary, remove or assist in removing any person engaged in suspicious or criminal acts
Perform First Aid and/or other life saving measures if necessary
Apply de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts while maintaining a Christ-like approach
Utilize less-lethal force options such as compliance holds, pepper gel and other approved techniques when necessary in line with MRM established safety procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice or related field strongly preferred
Prior law enforcement, military, or security experience strongly preferred
Experience organizing and/or supervising youth activities (coaching, tutoring, mentoring, etc.) preferred
Valid Driver’s License and good driving record a must
A mature Christian who is culturally competent and able to relate well with others in a diverse population
Familiarity with security equipment and practices preferred
Ability to work independently, assess risk factors and enforce security protocols
Ability to remain positive and calm, and to demonstrate fair, consistent, and sound judgement when dealing with problematic behavior or chaotic or conflicting situations
Strong conflict resolution skills. Able to defuse potentially volatile situations with patience and tact
Detail orientated with strong written and verbal communication skills for incident document and ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and law enforcement
Ability and willingness to follow directions, to be flexible and a team player
Computer literacy and the ability to navigate industry software
Reliability, dependability, and punctuality are expected
Must be able to handle physical workload – ability to perform foot patrols and rapid response to emergencies, stand or sit for long periods of time, walking, stair climbing, kneeling, squatting, crouching, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms, occasional lifting or moving items with a maximum weight of 35 lbs. a short distance (ex: floor to shelf or cart), and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly, as well as intervening in physical confrontations between students if necessary.
