This client manufactures unique components used in a variety of industries, but mostly in the medical device space. They have been in 10-15% growth over the course of the last 6 years and and are looking for a strong R&D Automation Engineer to join their R&D Team.
Job Description
The R&D Automation Engineer's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Designing, programming, simulating, and testing automated machinery to improve production processes, with careful consideration of workflow, layout, and safety.
Leading the design, programming, and integration of electrical automation systems across multiple platforms.
Evaluating and implementing new methods and technologies to drive continuous improvement in quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
Managing equipment procurement projects by collaborating with vendors, developing engineering specifications, and authoring or reviewing qualification protocols.
Creating and updating technical documentation, including manufacturing specifications, SOPs, safety instructions, validation protocols, risk assessments, and related procedures to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
Leading design of experiments (DOE), validation activities, testing protocols, and data analysis to support product and process improvements.
Providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians to build team capability.
Troubleshooting complex automation system issues to identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions. The Successful Applicant
The successful R&D Automation Engineer will have the following qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in an Engineering or Engineering Technology field; preference given to candidates with a background in Electrical Engineering, though other disciplines will be considered.
6+ years of hands-on experience in product or process development within a relevant engineering domain.
Strong foundation in automation control systems, including but not limited to PLCs, HMIs, motion control, vision systems, servos, and robotic integration.
