We are looking for a Data Analyst who is comfortable using state-of-the-art data programming and data analytics platforms such as Python, Scala, and Apache Spark. This role will require expertise in technical data evaluations and analyses, efficient algorithm design, database design and management, performance optimization, parallel processing, and computational geometry. The Data Analyst’s work will contribute to a new generation of data products in mobility analytics that address traffic congestion, climate impacts, equity-in-transportation assessments, and transit optimization for cities large and small across the US.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design data analysis/data engineering methods to meet today's needs, while providing for likely future needs
Prototype functional algorithms and statistical models to illustrate potential for new software products, platforms, technologies
Develop production ready code and provide clear and concise documentation
Design and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines to process high-volume location datasets
Produce meaningful data visualizations that are accessible to technical and non-technical audiences
Evaluate and learn new data sources, tools, techniques, as necessary
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, product teams, and transportation planners to deploy solutions efficiently and effectively
Contribute to a comprehensive, long term technical vision for products and platforms
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Transportation or Energy Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
1-3 years of work experience as a data analyst or software engineer
Strong Python skills
Familiarity with geospatial data, spatial analysis libraries, data visualization
Comfort with ambiguity and a curious, experimental mindset
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field
Familiarity with transportation and mobility datasets
Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS) and Big Data tools (e.g., Spark)
Background in machine learning, forecasting, anomaly detection
Passion for transportation and location data
