A Day/Night in the Life of an EKG EEG Tech:
Primary responsibility is performing EKG’s on inpatient and outpatients. The Tech performs EKG’s throughout the hospital and the Emergency Department (ED). Responsible for performing EEG’s on both inpatients and outpatients for the Cardiopulmonary department. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, days, evening and overnight shifts. This also includes taking EEG on call overnight if needed.

Here Is What You Will Be Doing:
Competent in the performance of EEGs.
Set-ups EEG/monitors EMU patients, not limited to but including helping C.N.A.’s and Nursing staff with monitoring and trouble-shooting of EMU EEGs.
Retrieves pertinent information from the patients chart and transfers information into correct documentation area of patient’s test, i.e. medications, pertinent medical history, etc.
Contacts ordering physician for the following: when patient is non-compliant, when study has been completed, and any pertinent questions that need rectified.
Performs EKGs and reports critical EKG results. Completes Stat EKGs.
Documents directly on the EKG and in the medical record: time, date, and physician receiving results.
Monitors the database in the Muse system: edits, routes or transmits unconfirmed EKG’s, puts unconfirmed EKGs in the physician’s reading box, confirms all EKG’s have an order attached and email appropriate Cardiologist ensuring EKG is read in a timely manner, competent to troubleshoot the MUSE database and issues with CRMC’s IT department. When necessary contact GE’s customer service department.
Transmits EKGs to appropriate outside facilities and troubleshoots any issues preventing the transmission of EKGs.
Attends 80% of department meetings.
Ensures complete stocking of oxygen tanks throughout the hospital. Confirms the correct amount of allotted oxygen tanks are dispersed to the proper areas hospital wide.
Takes initiative to contact Airgas with any facility issues relating to their service

Understanding and interpreting EEG/EKG’s
Here Is What You Will Need:
High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree
Cheyenne Regional RQI within 14 calendar days of start date
EKG interpretation class within two months of hire
