Job Summary:
The Survey Technician provides a detailed route from the existing plant to the customer defining all construction requirements for the proposed route. This position is responsible for performing commercial / residential walkout surveys to provide new service to end users and ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
Perform commercial / residential walkout surveys to provide new service to end users.
Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
Follow guidelines to provide detailed routes from existing plants to customer, noting all construction types required along proposed route.
Obtaining the correct field information, record verification, document all details for aerial and underground telecommunications including fiber, coax, poles, pedestals, and more.
Use plat maps to create a basic scope of work
Call customers to set up appointments for field visits.
Walk job and design route for cable installation (overhead & underground)
Use measuring wheel and locator for onsite survey
Complete research, and build jobs using Microsoft Office - excel and PowerPoint
Must be able to complete work within a 72-to-48-hour time-period
Research additional information about a property (easements)
Update spreadsheets for progression and communication
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently
Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in various stages of completion
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively with superiors and subordinates
Must be able to operate a computer and use various computer programs including Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook
3-5 years’ experience in telecommunications / construction with related project management experience
Must have a valid driver license with clean MVR within the last three years
Must be capable of driving long distances
Excellent vision or the use of prescription lenses
Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods in unfavorable weather conditions
General
High school diploma or GED equivalent (bachelor’s degree preferred).
In the field or in office telecommunications engineering or construction experience preferred.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
Deadline driven, self-motivated, and technically savvy.
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
Superior time management skills.
Extremely organized with strong attention to detail.
Ability to be flexible, take direction with ease, including changes to schedule and workflow priorities.
Critical thinking skills: make assessments and provide solutions to problems.
High aptitude for learning new processes and systems.
Ability to maintain professional tact in a fast-paced work environment with internal personnel and clients
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Experience with Topcon systems
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able and willing to work indoors and outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions
Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting
Must be able to stand, walk, sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time
