The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) serves as a vital member of the emergency medical services team, responsible for providing basic medical care and transportation for patients in emergency situations. The EMT functions under established guidelines and protocols to ensure patient safety and well-being at all times.

Primary Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

Assess the condition of patients and determine a course of action.

Administer basic life support (BLS) and other necessary medical care as needed.

Monitor vital signs and reassess conditions en route to medical facilities.

Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance:

Ensure the ambulance and equipment are ready for use.

Inspect, clean, and replenish medical supplies and equipment as necessary.

Communication:

Communicate with professional medical personnel and treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further treatment.

Maintain radio communication with dispatch to receive and transmit patient information.

Documentation:

Complete patient care forms, insurance forms, evaluation reports, and all other necessary documentation.

Accurately document details of the call and interventions.

Team Collaboration:

Successfully work, with a positive attitude and excellent customer service, with any other employee of the company as scheduled or directed.

Assist with training and mentoring of new EMTs and other EMS team members.

Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to all state of Texas regulations and guidelines pertaining to emergency medical service.

Maintain certifications and stay updated with continuous education and training.

Qualifications:

Valid Texas EMT-Basic or higher certification.

Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record.

High School Diploma or GED.

Current CPR certification.

Ability to lift and maneuver 150lbs without assistance and 300lbs with assistance.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work under stress and make critical decisions.

Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Physical Demands:

The role involves significant physical exertion, such as lifting and transferring patients, as well as responding swiftly to emergency situations.
