SUMMARY
Experience in gas sweetening and sulfur recovery. Able to gain technical knowledge and proficiency in Merichem’s treating technologies. Support the proposal team’s efforts to develop, design, and prepare comprehensive technical and commercial proposals for customers. Strong cross-disciplinary coordination and multi-tasking skills. Proactive efforts to optimize design, functionality, and overall performance of proposed packages. Actively contributes to quality improvement initiatives to drive continuous enhancement of engineering and proposal processes.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct interface with proposal team, technology managers, business development managers (BDMs) and customers, as required while designing treating systems that meet customer requirements
Prioritize, organize, and efficiently complete work requirements for ever-changing external customer inquiries and expectations, as well as internal customers
Prepare accurate calculations, some of which are non-standard designs, complete estimate requests, and develop the required documents for a complete and comprehensive technical and commercial proposal
Respond to client requests in a timely manner with sound technical information and details
Proactively contribute to continuous improvement of Merichem Technologies
Utilize proprietary programs for designing and sizing proprietary equipment
Create Sales Flow Diagrams (SFD) based upon calculations, designs, and standards
Submit cost estimating requests
Calculate mass balance for primary battery limit inlet and outlet streams, as well as effluent streams
Create and/or modify Technical and Commercial Proposals
Read complex requests for quote (RFQ) / invitation to bid (ITB) and interpret customers’ needs and requirements
Fill in process and materials data on equipment datasheets for firm price estimates
Complete customer-specified documentation for proposals
Lead and participate in Sales Challenge Meetings, led by the Proposal Engineers for design verification, buy in, approval, and innovative technology approaches
Provide sales with support including a thorough knowledge of Merichem standards and engineering practices to establish scope of work
Achieve individual performance goals that are set by Manager of Proposals
Continuously improve our commitment to excellence in Environmental, Health, Safety and Security performance
Support special projects and other duties as assigned
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Experience designing gas sweetening and sulfur recovery strongly preferred. Desirable, but not required experience in oil refining, petrochemicals, NGL recovery in upstream, midstream and downstream.
Bachelor of Engineering Degree required
BS Chemical Engineering preferred
Minimum 5 years of technical experience working in a refinery, petrochemical, gas processing, E&C company or related industry required
Process simulation experience required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of modular plant design or-skid-mounted units
Experience using simulation software such as Promax, VISIO, Microsoft Office, etc.
Ability to understand and prepare PFD’s, P&ID’s, equipment and instruments datasheets, and development of basic engineering packages desired
Ability to gather data, set priorities, and meet deadlines
Able to work efficiently in a team environment while coordinating with other departments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibility

Able to work an agreed upon standard schedule and additional hours as job duties demand

Site visits in refineries and chemical plants may include exposure to materials such as caustic, strong acids, and hydrocarbons, potential for H2S exposure and requirements for additional testing (e.g. PPE, drug)
