We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Special Projects Manager with proven federal consulting and cybersecurity experience to lead mission-critical initiatives supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) implementation. Leveraging extensive experience with DOD and federal clients and Zero Trust initiatives, this role will coordinate cross-functional efforts to accelerate delivery of secure, enterprise-wide capabilities under the VA's modernization efforts. The Special Project Manager position aligns as a Level 4H Hybrid Manager/Lead (Technical Skills) at 9th Way Insignia, accomplishes department objectives by managing staff and processes, and evaluating department activities. Focuses on leading a team and working hands-on with projects involving technology. Hybrid Managers require skills and qualifications such as exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Responsibilities

Serve as a senior project lead, coordinating ZTA acceleration tasks in accordance with the T4NG task order and VA security objectives.

Apply subject-matter knowledge of Zero Trust principles, per the CISA and DOD ZT Maturity Model Pillars, to collect requirements, define scope, schedule and resource needs to lead high profile special projects for the ZTA Government client.

Facilitate cross-agency engagement and alignment by organizing and supporting solutioning sessions, and technical exchange meetings. This person is a demonstrated "Connector" of people across organizational and technical siloes.

Demonstrated exceptional communications skills, both written and oral.

Drive Business Process Reengineering (BPR) initiatives related to ZT Enterprise transformation, including current/future state process mapping, gap analysis, and organizational change management.

Special project support may entail development and delivery of executive-level briefings and strategic communications to support leadership awareness and meeting congressional, OMB and Executive mandates.

Collaborate with cybersecurity architects, vendors, and acquisition stakeholders to evaluate and integrate COTS solutions and architecture frameworks.

Support the tracking of project milestones, dependencies, and risks using agile methodologies and program performance metrics.

Perform tool analysis and write government decision briefs as needed.

Other duties as necessary. Requirements

Bachelor of Science, concentration in Computer Science, Risk Management, or Cybersecurity

3–5+ years of experience in federal consulting, including direct work with DOD and Federal agencies.

Demonstrated expertise in supporting Zero Trust and DOD/CISA Maturity Model pillar-related efforts within federal IT environments.

Experience leading strategic planning, business development initiatives, or high-visibility special projects for executive clients.

Strong background in business process re-engineering, communications, change management, and cross-functional team coordination.

Preferred/Desired

SAFe Agile and Scrum Master certifications.

CISSP certification

Certified PMP

Familiarity with NIST 800-207 and Department of Veterans Affairs enterprise cybersecurity frameworks.

Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs or related civilian health agencies.

Relevant certifications (e.g. Illumio Associate certification or experience with network segmentation platforms).

Active Secret security clearance.

Salary Range

$103,060.84—$124,000 USD
