Starting Pay Range: $44,262.40-59,446.40 (commensurate with experience)

About the Position:
As a Security Supervisor, you will assist with the scheduling, training, monitoring and assignment of work to the security staff. Responsible for prevention of theft of library property, and maintenance of an orderly, safe and secure environment for staff and customers.
Position Schedule: The ability to work various schedules is required. Schedule varies as needed to accommodate meetings, trainings, and coverage.
A combination of mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
Friday/Saturday rotation 9:00am-6:00pm
1 in 5 Sundays 1:00-5:00pm
What You’ll Do:
In addition to the duties and responsibilities of the Lead Security Officer:
Assumes responsibility for security operations in the absence of the Director of Safety and Security.
Assists with the development and helps to lead the execution of annual departmental goals and objectives.
Responsible for the coaching, managing, hiring, orienting, training and evaluating of Security personnel in collaboration with the Director of Safety and Security and location managers.
Maintains awareness and understanding of policies and procedures to make decisions and counsel others.
Through the use of de-escalation techniques, control offensive, disruptive or inappropriate customer behavior.
Files police reports and appears in court regarding such cases as needed.
Shares information regarding potentially dangerous and suspended individuals with appropriate staff.
Assists with overseeing the library’s badge and key access by promptly responding to requests and deactivating or eliminating access based on established systems and protocols.
Helps to ensure ongoing functionality of security equipment by tracking and conducting regular testing of panic buttons, alarm panels, lockdown buttons, security cameras, etc. and performing necessary follow up actions to resolve issues.
Maintains vendor relationships and assists in coordinating work with vendors for approved and budgeted work.
Coordinates response to incidents according to severity and need for assistance, including reassigning Lead Officers and Officers and/or utilizing contract security or special duty police to account
for quickly evolving situations.
Oversees and maintains awareness of Security staffing across the system to ensure personnel are deployed most effectively.
Fills in for Lead Officers and Officers as needed to provide adequate staffing across all locations.
Ensures Security personnel have the necessary uniform parts and equipment in working order to perform their duties, responding to requests and proactively verifying.
Consistently available and responsive via phone, email, etc. to emergency situations, staffing shortages and needed consultation.
16. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D required. Associate's degree preferred.
3-5 years of experience in security or law enforcement required.
Demonstrated attention to detail, professional attitude, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
First Aid/CPR/AED and incident command, preferred.
Competent security-based web or app systems (e.g., CCTV, incident reporting, card access, mass communication, etc.), required.
Ability to carry and use Oleoresin Capsicum (OC or pepper spray) upon receiving necessary training.
Must have the ability to actively patrol (on foot) throughout the duration of their shift and to quickly respond to incidents.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, willing to carry a cellular telephone 24 hours a day for response to emergency situations.
Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e., Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems.
Valid driver license which meets the minimum requirements of CML’s vehicle insurance policy and access to a personal vehicle to promptly report to varied work locations as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles (e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, and/or working in moderate outdoor weather conditions.)
Work requires occasional lifting or pushing of up to 20 lbs. and the frequent lifting or pushing of up to 10 lbs.

Full-time
