Marine Systems Mechanical Technician

Bayliss Boatworks is currently hiring from all industries to join us in our mission to build the best custom sportfishing yachts in the world. We’re seeking experienced, motivated Marine Systems Mechanical Technician to join our mechanical department and support both new construction and service yard operations.

This role involves hands-on work with a wide range of critical onboard systems, demanding precision, mechanical expertise, and a strong commitment to craftsmanship.

Note: This position does not involve troubleshooting or working on diesel engines.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, maintain, and service a variety of marine systems including:

Hydraulic and electronic steering systems

Refrigeration and chilled water HVAC systems

Freshwater systems and onboard plumbing

Seakeeper gyro stabilizers

Running gear, shafts, struts, and propellers

Operate heavy equipment such as:

150-ton Marine Travelift

CAT Skidder and hydraulic trailer for vessel transport and moves

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical systems in accordance with ABYC and company standards

Collaborate with other departments to support timely, high-quality project completion

Qualifications and Skills:

Minimum of 5 years of mechanical systems experience, preferably in the marine, heavy equipment, or related industries

Familiarity with marine systems is preferred but not required

Experience operating heavy equipment is a strong plus

Ability to interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and system schematics

Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and attention to detail

Team-oriented with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
