Responsible for the design, maintenance, monitoring, and administration of multiple databases and associated tools and applications. Provide recommendations for database solutions to address identified issues and contribute to the design and implementation of various NoSQL Databases such as Cassandra, Couchbase, and MongoDB. Handle capacity planning and infrastructure management for multi-datacenter NoSQL Database clusters in both on-premises and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments. Design, deploy, and manage Cassandra clusters across different settings. Collaborate on Cassandra data model design and assist developers in optimizing queries for enhanced performance. Offer support for and oversee Cassandra and Couchbase clusters, including configuring backup and restore utilities and establishing disaster recovery protocols. Swiftly and efficiently resolve production incidents as they arise. Take proactive measures to enhance Database environments continuously. Ensure timely delivery of infrastructure requests for software projects. Conduct performance tuning, ensure high availability, manage replication, and optimize databases in general. Execute data migrations between different database systems. Define and implement best practices for Cassandra, covering configuration, health monitoring, and cluster backups. Enhance observability of database infrastructure through improved alerting, metrics, and monitoring mechanisms. Develop and maintain scripts to support ongoing database maintenance, ensuring consistent performance levels. Stay updated on the functionality of existing platforms and upcoming enhancements. Participate in incident response efforts, diagnosing system outages, and following up on alerts across the production infrastructure. Position is fixed location based in New York, NY office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or a directly related field plus five (5) years of experience in Database Engineering. Experience must include:
Five (5) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):
• Programming Languages: Java, C, C++, or Python.
• Web Technologies: HTML, HTML5, CSS, XML, JavaScript, PHP, or Python.
• Relational Databases: MySQL and Oracle
• NoSQL Databases: Apache Cassandra 1.x-3.x, Couchbase Enterprise & community 5.x -7.x, Mongo DB, Kafka, and MySQL
• Scripting: Shell Scripting, Python, Ansible, Puppet, and Terraform
• Tools & IDEs: Visual Studio, DevCenter, Grafana, Zabbix, Graphite, Kibana, and Anadot
• Cloud services: AWS or GCP
• Operating System: RedHat Linux, CentOS and Windows
• Ticketing tools: Service Now and JIRA
Will accept a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) plus two (2) years of experience in Database Engineering in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years of experience.
