Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Internship Opportunity
Hourly Pay: $18 Up to 20 Hours/Week One-Year Assignment
The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) is seeking a dedicated and motivated intern to support the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. This paid internship offers valuable hands-on experience working with individuals and families in need of housing assistance.
About the Role
This part-time internship runs for one year and offers flexible scheduling between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM to accommodate academic commitments. The intern will work closely with HCV Specialists to assist clients—particularly those with mental and psychological disabilities—in navigating the housing process.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with client communication and case support
Help process documentation related to housing eligibility
Interact with landlords, health professionals, and other stakeholders
Apply basic computer skills for data entry and document management
Preferred Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Comfortable working with diverse populations and sensitive information
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, talk, see, and hear frequently
Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds
Visual acuity including depth, color, and texture perception
