Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Senior Short Term Planning Engineer, the Senior Surveyor provides management of the open pit mine survey functions to meet company standards, maintain accurate plans and survey records, and ensuring team safety.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Conduct surveys to identify and map mine locations.

Using modern surveying technology, such as GPS and GIS, to collect and analyze data

Provide computer-aided drafting (CAD) support in the performance of field and technical investigations, drafting, survey assistance, earth moving management, and engineering designs.

Developing and maintaining detailed maps and plans of mine site.

Assessing the potential safety risks and geological factors of mining locations.

Monitoring mine development and progress. Monitor the progress of mining operations and ensure that they are being conducted within the designated boundaries.

Measure the volume of extracted material and document any changes to the mine structure or surrounding environment.

Providing data for mine feasibility studies and excavation plans.

Coordinating with engineers to plan and execute mining operations.

Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports on surveying activities.

Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards Effective collection, analysis and reporting of survey data.

Continuous research for improved streamlined data capturing and processing within a mechanized mining environment.

Compliance with appropriate risk mitigation and risk management systems.

Reviewing appropriate reports and outputs for accuracy before submissions.

Training in direct reports for developmental purposes.

Monitoring and ensuring consistency of site teams in evaluating all site field changes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

Minimum bachelor’s degree and 3+ year experience in Mining, Geology or related fields.

Knowledge of Federal regulations – Arizona Administrative Code and Arizona Revised Statutes.

Proficient with MS Office, related software, and computers.

Proven work experience in Mine Surveying

Valid Driver’s License

PREFEERED QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed Land Surveyor in Tucson, AZ is desirable.

Review and reading/interpretation of professional literature and regulations.

Previous experience at a copper mine operation site is preferred.

Previous experience in Construction Control.

The work environment will be nearly exclusively outside and weather conditions such as hot or cold, windy, and very dry to wet conditions. Work will be conducted off established roads and trails on a variety of terrain.

Employee will be expected to drive a company vehicle, rental vehicle and/or his/her own vehicle in the course of performing the job, Employee must be able to perform the physical functions of operating a motor vehicle, including use of eyes, ears, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Employee must be able to prove that he/she has a current and valid driver's license.
